The Electoral Commission has revealed that 88 individuals have so far expressed interest in running for the Presidential seat in next year’s general election.
This marks the highest number of potential candidates in the country’s history, giving Ugandans what the EC describes as “the largest variety and the luxury of choice” on who should occupy State House.
With the election season drawing closer, the number of interested candidates could still rise, setting the stage for one of Uganda’s most competitive presidential races ever.
