Abraham Luzzi

Abraham Luzzi, popularly known as “Mr Economy” is a Ugandan businessman and politician who has officially declared his intention to contest for Member of Parliament, Kampala Central Division, as an independent candidate in the 2026–2031 elections.

Born to Hajj Badru Kafuuma of Kakiri Luwaga in Busiro, Wakiso District, and the late Hadijah Nantaba of Kibanga Village, Bukandula in Gomba District, Luzzi’s story is one of determination and enterprise.

He attended SOS Hermann Gmeiner Schools, Kawempe Muslim Secondary School, Mityana Secondary School, and Lubiri Secondary School, where he excelled in sciences.

He later pursued Orthopedic Medicine at Mulago Paramedical School before transferring to Nkumba University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement and Logistics Management. Luzzi is also currently pursuing a Law Degree at Victoria University Uganda.

As a businessman, Luzzi’s investments cut across several industries from gold and sand mining, stone quarrying, and mechanized farming to agro-processing, tourism, and travel.

He is the founder and director of Ssebo Food Industries Uganda Ltd, producers of the popular Ssebo Pure Maize Flour. He also owns Ssebo Pure Gold and Jewelry Center at Serena Hotel Kampala, dealing in high-end gold and jewelry products.

Luzzi’s influence extends internationally through Ssebo International Group, which operates in countries including Uganda, the DRC, South Africa, the USA, Canada, the UK, China, and the UAE.

He even established a sports academy in Hammersmith, London, to support Ugandan youth aged 10–16.

In sports, Luzzi once served as Marketing and Sales Manager and Head of Public Relations for the Uganda Police Football Club.

Politically, Luzzi has a dynamic history he previously worked as a mobilizer for the NRM in Mityana and Mubende, contested for Mityana Municipality MP in 2021, and later joined the Democratic Party (DP) before deciding to stand independently.

With his slogan “Sarah is tall” a nod to his wife Sarah Luzzi’s campaign emphasizes economic empowerment, youth development, and transparency

His main rivals include Lewis Rubongoya (NUP), Hon. Minsa Kabanda (NRM), Suzan Kushaba, and Moses Muhangi.

As the 2026 elections draw closer, all eyes are on Abraham Luzzi, the self-made entrepreneur and outspoken reformist, who believes Kampala deserves a leader with vision, business sense, and integrity.
