Ugandan events company ALMAGIC has hit back at the National People’s Party (NPP) after the party summoned singer Hajat Stecia Mayanja Faridah for performing at a rally of an NRM candidate while her own party also fields a presidential flag bearer.
Through their lawyers, UNAR Advocates, ALMAGIC clarified that Stecia was engaged strictly in her capacity as an artist and brand name, not as a political figure.

The lawyers argue that the summons issued to Stecia is unlawful, stressing that her contractual obligations are tied to ALMAGIC’s entertainment work, not politics.
They demand that NPP immediately withdraws the summons or face legal consequences.

The development has fueled heated debate online about the intersection between music and politics in Uganda, with fans divided on whether entertainers should be punished for performing at political events.
