Former Mawokota South Member of Parliament Amelia Kyambadde has officially been nominated to run for the seat again in the upcoming 2026 general elections.
Kyambadde, who previously served as a Minister and long-time political figure, lost the constituency to Hon. Hillary Kiyaga, popularly known as Dr. Hilderman, during the 2021 elections.
Her return to the political arena comes at a time when Dr. Hilderman is reportedly facing internal challenges within his party, the National Unity Platform (NUP).
Party insiders suggest that there is growing dissatisfaction with his performance and representation, which could play in Kyambadde’s favor.
Kyambadde’s nomination has already stirred excitement and debate among voters in Mawokota, setting the stage for a potentially heated rematch between two prominent figures in Ugandan politics.
