Prominent Ugandan political commentator Basajja Mivule has made startling revelations about his alliance with President Yoweri Museveni, claiming he was forced into cooperation after striking a deal to escape legal charges.
“I don’t speak in support of President Museveni because I agree with what’s happening in Uganda, but because I made an agreement with him,” Mivule revealed.
“He dropped the charges I was facing in court, and in return, I promised to work for him. I had no choice.”
Mivule says he fulfilled his part of the bargain, but has received nothing in return not even a token of appreciation.

“I’ve done the job we agreed on, but I’ve received nothing back. Now, I’m ready to turn against him.
I’m ready to stand with anyone who will help me regain my freedom, recover what I’ve lost, and liberate Uganda as a whole. The system is rotten.”
His comments have ignited debate online, with many Ugandans expressing shock, sympathy, or criticism. As the country gears up for the 2026 elections, statements like these continue to fuel tensions within the political landscape.
