Veteran Ugandan musician Moses Ssali, popularly known as Bebe Cool, has called on President Yoweri Museveni for financial support to promote his upcoming album, Break the Chains, which is set to be officially released on May 30th.
Bebe Cool revealed that he has already spent over UGX 2.56 billion on the album’s production.
These expenses covered songwriting, recording, mastering, and international collaborations, with production taking place in Nigeria, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.
“This is the biggest project of my music career,” Bebe Cool said. “I’ve invested everything to make sure Uganda is represented at the highest level in the global music scene.”
However, the Gagamel boss stressed that he needs more than UGX 2 billion (an estimated $2 million) to effectively promote the album across Africa and internationally.

He is appealing directly to President Museveni and the government to offer the needed financial backing, arguing that this isn’t just about personal success it’s about promoting Ugandan music, culture, and talent to the world.
Bebe Cool has always been vocal about the need for government support in the arts sector, especially for artists who represent Uganda on international stages.
With this album, he says the time is ripe for the country to “invest in its own global stars”
Whether or not the President will respond remains to be seen, but the appeal has already sparked discussion online about government funding priorities, cultural investment, and the future of Uganda’s music export strategy.
