Edward Sebuufu, popularly known as Eddie Mutwe, who serves as the bodyguard to opposition leader Bobi Wine, has been remanded to Murchison Bay Hospital at Luzira Prison following a court session that highlighted his deteriorating health condition.
Appearing frail, shivering, and visibly shaken, Eddie Mutwe was brought before the Grade One Magistrate’s Court, where he displayed what he claimed were torture marks inflicted during his time in military custody under the Special Forces Command (SFC).
In his statement to court, Mutwe alleged that he had been subjected to severe forms of torture, including electrocution, waterboarding, and beatings in a Kampala basement.

Despite his legal team’s plea for bail on medical grounds, the magistrate denied the request, opting instead to send him to Murchison Bay Hospital for further observation and treatment under the Uganda Prisons medical team.
The case has sparked public outrage and renewed calls for accountability regarding the treatment of political detainees in Uganda. Human rights advocates are urging an independent investigation into his claims of torture.
