Veteran singer and music manager Chagga has come out with a strong emotional statement, holding music critic Eddy Ssendi partly responsible for the mental distress that led to the late Moze Radio’s depression and eventual death.
In a heartfelt reflection, Chagga revealed that by the time Radio passed away, he had stopped using smartphones and resorted to a basic “mapeesa” phone.

The reason, he explained, was the overwhelming negativity and constant online and media criticism that Radio faced, which deeply affected his mental health.
“Radio would see all the insults and hate whenever he opened his phone.
He started to believe no one liked him that the nation had turned against him, Chagga said. “People like Eddy Ssendi kept trashing him on radio, and those words always reached him. It broke him from the inside.

Chagga’s remarks come as the country marks 8 years since the death of Moze Radio, one of Uganda’s most celebrated vocalists and songwriters.
His words have stirred emotion among fans and raised deeper conversations about how public figures are treated in the media and the long-term impact of cyberbullying and harsh criticism on mental health.
