David Lewis Rubongoya has been re-elected as the Secretary General of the National Unity Platform (NUP) during the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) elections.
Rubongoya, who has served in the role since NUP transitioned from a pressure group into a formal political party in 2020, won the position by an overwhelming majority vote from NEC members

In his acceptance speech, Rubongoya expressed gratitude to the delegates for trusting him once again with the responsibility.
“I thank you for the confidence you have placed in me. I remain committed to building a strong, people-centered party that champions the voice of the ordinary Ugandan,” he said.
His re-election has been seen as a signal of continuity and stability within NUP’s top leadership as the party gears up for the 2026 general elections.
