Former radio host-turned-politician DJ Jacob Omutuuze has stirred debate after claiming that Pastor Wilson Bugembe would not have sold out tables for his recently concluded Serena Hotel show celebrating 20 years in the music industry without the help of events promoter Bajjo and media personality Dianah Nabatanzi.
Omutuuze’s remarks did not sit well with some listeners, who believe Pastor Bugembe has the capacity to fill up Serena entirely on his own.
Among the critics was music analyst Eddy Ssendi, who insisted that Bugembe’s audience came directly because of him, not because of outside help though he acknowledged that support is always welcome.
The discussion has since sparked a wider conversation on how much credit external promoters and media figures should get when established artists achieve major milestones.
