Ugandan music star and president of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), Eddy Kenzo, has expressed his intention to resign from his leadership role, citing ongoing frustrations with the Ministry of Finance over the delayed release of funds meant for musicians.
In an audio message sent to UNMF members, Kenzo revealed that his breaking point came after continuous delays and what he described as “unnecessary barriers” by the ministry regarding the remaining 5 billion Ugandan Shillings for the artists’ SACCO.

“The government has continued to give excuses, saying the Federation hasn’t done enough to qualify for the funds, even after Gen. Salim Saleh approved the release,” Kenzo lamented.
The UNMF president, who has been at the forefront of uniting musicians and advocating for industry reform, sounded visibly frustrated, noting that he has sacrificed his energy and reputation for the cause, yet the process has been slowed down by bureaucracy.
His threat to resign has since sparked heated discussions within the entertainment industry, with many artists expressing concern that his departure could destabilize the federation’s progress.
