Over a week after the tragic YY Bus crash in Buikwe that left several passengers dead and others injured, the family of the late Canon Jimmy Musimbi, the former Manafwa District Service Commission Chairperson, has finally received his remains.
The deadly accident occurred when the YY Bus overturned and caught fire as the driver tried to avoid a collision with a bodaboda rider.
Many passengers were left injured, while others, including Canon Musimbi, were burnt beyond recognition.
In the days following the crash, Musimbi’s family raised concerns about the silence and uncertainty regarding the whereabouts of his body.
This prompted YY Bus Company officials to initiate DNA testing on the remains collected from the crash site.

After a series of DNA tests, the company has now officially handed over the remains of Canon Musimbi to his grieving family.
The handover brings some closure to the family, even as they continue to mourn the loss of their loved one.
YY Bus Company has not yet made a detailed public statement about the crash, but the incident has sparked discussions about passenger safety on Ugandan roads.
