Faridah Nambi Kigongo, the NRM candidate in the recently concluded Kawempe North by-election, has formally petitioned the court to nullify the election results, citing what she calls major irregularities allegedly committed by the Electoral Commission (EC).
In her final submissions, Nambi’s legal team argued that the electoral process was marred by serious flaws, including voter intimidation, inaccurate tallying, and unlawful practices that compromised the credibility and transparency of the election.
“The integrity of the entire process was deeply undermined,” her lawyers stated. “Our client believes that the will of the people was not genuinely reflected in the declared results.”

Nambi is seeking a court-ordered nullification of the results and possibly a fresh election.
The court is expected to deliberate on the matter in the coming weeks, as the spotlight now turns to how the judiciary will address increasing concerns over electoral fairness in Uganda.
