FIFA has imposed a fine of USD 5,000 on both the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) and Uganda Cranes striker Denis Omedi over misconduct and unsporting behavior during the 2026 World Cup Qualifier against Mozambique held on March 21, 2025.
The disciplinary action follows Omedi’s red card in the match, which ended in a 3-1 loss for Uganda. The game took place in Egypt, where Uganda is hosting its home fixtures due to stadium challenges.
FIFA cited violations related to player conduct and organizational discipline, warning of further sanctions if similar incidents occur again in future matches.
