Recently spotlighted media personality Frank Gashumba has addressed public concern surrounding his daughter Sheila Gashumba and her apparent reluctance to refer to his new partner Malaika as “mummy”
Speaking to the press, Gashumba dismissed the criticism and clarified that Malaika has never demanded to be addressed as “mum”, and there is no issue as long as there is mutual respect between the two women.
“Have you ever heard Malaika say Sheila must call her mum? No. That’s not a problem in our home,” he explained calmly.
The conversation has sparked wider social debate, with some saying this is one of the challenges that arise when a man marries a woman close in age to his adult child.
“Abamu bagamba bwebuzibu bw’okuwasa omukazi eyenkana n’omwana wo omukulu,” one observer commented online, loosely translated as: “Some say this is the issue with marrying a woman who is the same age as your grown daughter.”
Despite the murmurs, Gashumba seems unfazed and continues to express confidence in how he manages his family affairs.
