Ugandan political commentator and entrepreneur Frank Gashumba has opened up about his relationship with Patience Mutoni Malaika, emphasizing that he is investing in their future together and dismissing critics who question her age.
“I started dating Malaika when she was still using a boda boda.
In January, I bought her a simple car worth 37 million shillings to help her get started, especially since she had just finished driving school,” Gashumba revealed in a recent interview.
He explained that his decision to buy her a modest car was intentional:
“You can’t give a young girl who’s just had her first driving lessons a big car. Once she masters driving, I’ll upgrade her and buy her a posh car.”
Gashumba also clapped back at critics who argue Malaika is too young for him.
“Yes, she is young, but she’s not underage. Did you want me to marry Nandujja or Namirembe Bitamazire?”
The couple recently made headlines with their Kukyala (introduction) ceremony held in Sembabule, hinting that a grand wedding is in the pipeline.
Gashumba says he’s building a relationship meant to last forever, and that love—not public opinion—is what matters most.
