Prominent Ugandan social commentator Frank Gashumba has sparked conversations with his recent remarks about his expectations for his wife, Patience Mutoni Malaika.
According to Gashumba, he believes that his wife should not engage in cooking but rather supervise the chefs to ensure his meals are perfectly prepared.
“When Malaika gets back home, she goes straight to the kitchen to make sure the chefs have prepared exactly what she ordered.

Then she heads upstairs to watch Netflix after taking a bath, so I find her as warm as an electric cooker. My wife won’t smell like onions; I didn’t marry a chef,” Gashumba explained.
His comments have stirred mixed reactions, with some praising his approach to treating his wife while others criticize his traditional views on gender roles.
For Gashumba, it’s about ensuring that his wife is well taken care of and that she enjoys a life of comfort.
