After an unsuccessful attempt at the Kampala Central MP seat in the previous elections, Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu, elder brother to opposition leader Bobi Wine, has now set his sights on Kawempe South Constituency.
Nyanzi is expected to face tough competition from established political figures such as Mubarak Munyagwa, Ssemboga Roy, and other strong contenders.
Political analysts say his shift to Kawempe South may be a strategic move, with many believing he has returned to a base where he holds stronger grassroots support.

Some critics argue that Nyanzi initially “tried to eat what he couldn’t swallow” by taking on Kampala Central, a highly contested and politically complex area.
However, his decision to focus on Kawempe South may reflect a more calculated approach as he positions himself where his loyalty to the ghetto, community mobilization skills, and political network could give him an edge.
