Kampala in a surprising political twist, Hon. Muhammad Nsereko has officially launched his own political party, the Ecological Party of Uganda, as he sets sights on the presidency in the upcoming 2026 elections.
Refusing to align with other opposition factions seeking to unseat President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Nsereko said it’s time for a new direction rooted in progressive, peaceful, and non sectarian politics.
The Kampala Central MP emphasized that his party will stand out by promoting environmental sustainability, national unity, and development without resorting to violence or tribal sentiments.

“This party will be the most progressive and peaceful political platform in Uganda no foot soldiers, no sectarianism. We are coming with fresh energy and ideas,” Nsereko stated.
He also revealed plans for a nationwide recruitment drive to identify and support candidates who will contest under the Ecological Party banner in the 2026 general elections.

Meanwhile, questions are already being raised about how Nsereko managed to register his party smoothly sparking speculation over potential high level backing or external funding.
Some critics have compared it to the hurdles faced by NUP and PFF, whose leaders and supporters have faced arrests, intimidation, and legal troubles.
As the 2026 race gains momentum, all eyes will be on Nsereko and whether the Ecological Party of Uganda can truly shift the dynamics of Ugandan politics.
