Uganda’s film community came together this week for the exclusive IKON Activate Uganda event. The invitation-only gathering connected filmmakers, producers, actors, and other creative professionals. It created space for knowledge sharing, co-production talks, mentorship, and global networking.

The event took place at the venue that will host the IKON Awards 2026 on March 21. It set the tone for a year many expect to be historic for Uganda’s film industry. Guests enjoyed a glamorous setup with sponsor backdrops from Hennessy and Moët & Chandon. A Hollywood-style photo booth added extra excitement to the night.

iKON Activate events have also been held in Nigeria and Kenya. These editions encouraged pan-African collaborations and helped filmmakers reach wider audiences. The Uganda edition continued that mission by empowering local creatives to lift their craft and access global opportunities.
The gathering celebrated Uganda’s filmmaking talent. It also highlighted East Africa’s growing presence in the global film space.
