Singer-turned-politician Mathias Walukagga has appealed to his fellow aspirants who missed out on the National Unity Platform (NUP) party card, asking them to remain calm and rally behind him instead of contesting as independents.

Walukagga said that if he had not been chosen as the party flag bearer, he would also have supported whoever was given the card. He stressed that unity within the party is more important than personal ambitions.

However, his plea seemed to make little impact as Hon. Medard Ssegona had already declared his decision to contest independently, setting the stage for a tighter political contest
