Busiro East MP Medard Lubega Ssegona has boldly stated his intention to succeed Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) as President of the National Unity Platform (NUP) after Kyagulanyi completes his two terms.
Speaking during a political discussion, Ssegona emphasized that this was part of the founding principles agreed upon when forming the party.

I will replace Kyagulanyi as NUP president after his two terms because those are the principles we agreed upon when we started NUP,” he said.
Ssegona, known for his sharp legal mind and close ties with opposition leaders, is also the best friend of Hon. Mathias Mpuuga, who currently heads the Democratic Front.

His remarks come at a time when internal dynamics within Uganda’s opposition movements are drawing national attention.
Whether this statement signals early succession politics or just commitment to party ideology remains to be seen.
