Muslim leaders in Uganda, including Sheikh Salim Bossa, have raised strong criticism against singer Chosen Becky’s new husband, Ssekajja, for taking his wife to Mecca for Umrah despite her being known as a non-believer.
The leaders argue that allowing a non-Muslim to participate in Umrah is a serious insult to their faith and traditions.
They further questioned Ssekajja’s sincerity in his faith, accusing him of disrespecting Islam by turning a sacred ritual into a publicity stunt.
In a joint statement, they demanded that Chosen Becky issue a public apology immediately, warning that failure to do so may force them to take stronger action.
Meanwhile, social media is buzzing with mixed reactions some defending Becky, saying religion should not limit love, while others side with the leaders, insisting the holy rituals of Islam must be respected.
