The Nakawa Chief Magistrates’ Court has today granted a brief but significant opportunity to Dr. Kizza Besigye and his co-accused, Hajji Obeid Lutale Kamulegeya, allowing them a few minutes to privately interact with their legal team and a limited number of family members.
The court ruling follows continued pressure from the defense lawyers, who argued that the accused needed adequate time to consult on their ongoing legal matters.
The magistrate approved the request under the condition that the interaction remains brief and limited in number for security and procedural purposes.

Both Besigye and Hajji Obeid Lutale are currently facing charges that remain politically sensitive.
This court decision is being viewed as a small win for their legal defense and a gesture of respect toward the accused’s right to legal counsel and family support.
Further court proceedings are expected in the coming days.
