The National Unity Platform (NUP) has hit a stumbling block in its preparations for the 2026 elections.
According to the party’s Secretary General, David Lewis Rubongoya, the Electoral Commission (EC) has officially informed them that they did not submit sufficient signatures to support the nomination of their presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine).
This development poses a major challenge for NUP, as valid signatures from across the country are a key requirement for presidential nomination.
Rubongoya, however, emphasized that the party is reviewing the EC’s communication and will take the necessary steps to ensure Bobi Wine’s nomination is secured.
The setback comes at a crucial time when opposition parties are preparing to challenge the ruling NRM in the upcoming elections.
