President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has thrilled Ugandans with the announcement that the country will officially begin drilling its own oil next year marking a major milestone in Uganda’s long-awaited journey toward commercial oil production.
Speaking during the 63rd Independence Day celebrations at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, President Museveni said that after years of exploration, investment, and infrastructure development, the oil sector is finally ready to produce tangible results.

“This is a big step for Uganda’s economy. We are now entering a phase where our oil will start to benefit the country directly,” the President stated.
The announcement sparked excitement among citizens and industry players who believe this development will boost the nation’s economic growth, create more jobs, and strengthen Uganda’s position in the global energy market.
This milestone marks a new era of progress as Uganda moves closer to achieving full energy independence and national prosperity.
