President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has announced that the government will purchase the Mayuge Sugar Factory to benefit local cane farmers across the Busoga sub-region.
Speaking during a meeting with sugarcane farmers, millers, and sugar manufacturers at State Lodge, Mayuge District,
Museveni revealed that while he had previously pledged to construct a new sugar mill in Busoga, the government is now considering acquiring an already existing mill to fast-track operations.
The move is aimed at empowering farmers, boosting the sugar industry, and ensuring fair returns for the hardworking cane growers in the region.
