Ricky Odrey, born Ochieng Derrick, is a fast-rising Afrobeat and Afrosoul artist from Uganda. He was raised in Entebbe and Kampala, with roots in Tororo. Ricky is also a songwriter, video director, colorist, and editor known for blending vibrant Ugandan rhythms with modern Afro-inspired sounds. His ability to merge music and visual art has made him one of the most dynamic young creatives shaping Uganda’s entertainment scene.
Ricky discovered his love for music early in life while growing up in Entebbe. What started as a childhood fascination with melodies and storytelling evolved into a passion for creating songs that reflect real-life emotions—love, struggle, heartbreak, celebration, and personal growth. In March 2025, Ricky released his debut EP Suzana, a collection of heartfelt songs exploring joy, romance, heartbreak, and celebration. Tracks like Pesa featuring Carol Flower, Mercy, Am Drowning, Pere, Kenyo, Suzana, and Weekend quickly connected with listeners, establishing him as a rising force in the Ugandan Afrobeat and Afrosoul landscape.
