A Senior Three student identified as Ruth Nandase has been remanded to Luzira Prison on serious charges of impersonation and fraud. Nandase was arrested alongside a 33-year-old builder, Babu Maniharah, for allegedly posing as prominent businessman Hamis Kiggundu, the owner of Hamis Enterprises Limited.
According to the prosecution, Nandase, Babu, and other suspects still at large impersonated the tycoon in an elaborate scam aimed at defrauding unsuspecting people in Kampala.

One victim, identified as Frank Sempa, was reportedly swindled out of UGX 50,000 after being promised a loan—an offer made by someone pretending to be Kiggundu, which never materialized.
The duo has been charged with impersonation and cheating and is currently on remand as investigations continue. The case has sparked public debate over the rise in impersonation scams targeting vulnerable Ugandans.
