Following Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz’s grand performance at the Coffee Marathon in Ntungamo, Uganda, media personality Sheilah Gashumba has weighed in on the controversy surrounding his hefty UGX 750 million paycheck and VIP treatment.
While artists like Eddy Kenzo, King Saha, Bafana, and Jowy Landa have voiced frustration over what they called favoritism and unfair treatment, Gashumba has urged them to stop the bitterness and instead learn from Diamond’s excellence.

“Looks like we will never get a Diamond Platnumz collaboration with a Ugandan artist But it all goes back to BRANDING I love Ugandan artists, but none of them can put on a show like Diamond; from performance, style, etc.
Sometimes we have to accept some people are better than us, and instead of fighting them, we can learn from them” Sheilah posted on X (formerly Twitter).

She emphasized that the difference lies in branding, performance, fashion, and consistency areas where Diamond clearly excels and where Ugandan artists need to improve if they want international appeal and big-money deals.
Her comments come at a time when the Ugandan music industry is divided over the government’s decision to fly in foreign acts at high costs, while local stars feel overlooked and underfunded.
Still, Gashumba’s bold advice challenges artists to invest in their craft, image, and global reach rather than sulking over lost opportunities.
