In a move that has shocked both the music and political scenes, veteran singer Stecia Mayanja has officially sworn in as President of the newly formed National Peasant Party (NPP) and insiders say she may be preparing to run for President in 2026
Known for her strong personality and deep connection with the grassroots, Stecia says the time has come to stop singing about people’s pain and start solving it through leadership.
“For too long, the peasants have been used and ignored. I’m here to be their voice and their power,” she said during the swearing-in ceremony.
From Music to State House?
Stecia’s transition from stage diva to political figure has raised eyebrows, but her supporters say she understands the real struggles of ordinary Ugandans making her a genuine people’s candidate.
While she hasn’t officially declared her presidential bid yet, sources close to NPP reveal plans are already underway to front her as their flag bearer in the upcoming 2026 general elections.
