Uganda Airlines will be retiring its fleet of Bombardier CRJ 900 jets, citing persistent challenges in sourcing spare parts.
Speaking before the Parliament’s Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE), CEO Jenifer Bamuturaki revealed that the decision comes after years of operational strain caused by limited availability of parts for the four aircraft.
The CRJ 900s have been the airline’s main regional workhorses since its relaunch, connecting Uganda to destinations across East and Central Africa.
The retirement marks a major shift in the carrier’s strategy, as it seeks alternative aircraft to maintain and expand its regional network.
