Uganda’s Cubs Qualify for 2026 U-17 Africa Cup After 3–0 Victory Over Ethiopia
Uganda’s U-17 national team, the Cubs, has secured a place at the 2026 TotalEnergies CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco after defeating Ethiopia 3–0 in the CECAFA semifinals at the Abebe Bikila Stadium.
The win earned Uganda an automatic qualification spot and marked one of their strongest performances in the regional tournament.

Head coach Laryea Kingston praised his team’s commitment and discipline, noting that their hard work is paying off. The goals came from Lwesibwa and one from either Thomas Ogema or captain Owen Mukisa, depending on final match reports.
The Cubs’ qualification follows an impressive campaign, including a dominant 6–0 victory over Djibouti earlier in the tournament.
In the other semifinal, Tanzania beat Kenya, setting up a Uganda vs. Tanzania final scheduled for Tuesday.
With this qualification, Uganda’s dream of reaching the next U-17 World Cup remains very much alive.
