Uganda is among several countries now facing tighter US visa restrictions following new directives from President Donald Trump’s administration.
The orders, issued to US embassy immigration officials in Kampala, are part of broader measures targeting nations seen as uncooperative on immigration matters.

According to emerging details, the travel bans and restrictions are based on several reasons:
Lack of cooperation — The US cited Uganda’s failure to assist in repatriating its citizens who are in the US without valid immigration status, despite repeated requests for their removal.
Overstaying visas — There has been concern about the growing trend of Ugandan citizens overstaying their visas after expiry, something the Trump administration views as abuse of entry privileges.
Passport security concerns — Questions have been raised about the security features of Uganda’s passports and the risk of document fraud or fake papers.
The US joins a list of countries tightening border controls and visa rules as part of ongoing immigration crackdowns.
The move is expected to impact many Ugandans planning travel to the US for work, study, or tourism.
